dynamic hide & show screen parts/panes

It would be nice having a possibility creating dynamic parts in the screen - which are e.g. hidden, but can be shown with mouse over or similiar.

A concrete idea would be having a selection pane which can be hidden/shown dynamically and with a default setting possibility. The screens would appear more clean and the focus would be more on content (dataviews, charts etc.)
