How to: Fix Transparency issue on BOARD WinClient popup windows
BOARD Windows Client pop-up windows and messages might not be displayed correcly under some circumstances.
This may affect BOARD Clients running on Virtual Machine (OS Win 8, Win 2012 and using Citrix Console, ICA Protocol or VMWare Player).
As you can see below, Windows Client pop-up look transparent and/or fading, due to a rendering inefficiency
Possible Solutions
1) VMPlayer
Edit the Virtual Machine Settings > Display >3D graphics > Set the Accelerate 3D graphics parameter to true
2) OS Win8/10
- Open up the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
- find the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft key
- create a new folder called Avalon.Graphics, then in that folder, create a new DWORD value called DisableHWAcceleration and set its value to 1.
- Close the editor and restart the VM or OS
Note
These registry settings are provided for troubleshooting, debugging, and product support purposes.

Hi,
sometimes we found that you can solve it also disabling the parameter "Enable Desktop Composition" from the windows panel "performance options" .
Expecially with Windows 7.

Hello,
I also faced a couple of cases where I had to change the bit colors of the monitor (Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings) from High Colors to True Colors, especially in older Windows versions:

Hello,
I have solved this for several customers by changing the theme on their computer. Settings - Personalization - ThemesMost new computers come with a standard theme setting that seems to be problematic for the Board client, there are always some basic themes you can choose.
It only gets problematic when the IT does not allow this change for their users, I only had that once so far.
Best regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel Zillmann,
to be clear: did you change the theme, taking off the theme used and setting one of the "basic"?
thanks!

Yes, we've changed it from the theme that was set when they bought the computer to a basic one. That always solved the issue.
Best regards,
Daniel

Thanks Davide Genini, this specific solution works for us. I can now resolve this issue for users with different configs across the company.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I found the Disable 'Enable Desktop Composition' fixed it. :-)
