edited November 2023 in Blog

This update introduces a new, much more flexible Waterfall chart Object, new Procedure steps for extracting data from Board, significant Subscription Hub enhancements and additional performance improvements to further increase Board speed, stability and reliability.

MAIN NEW FEATURES OF THIS UPDATE

New Waterfall chart Object - The Waterfall chart Object has been completely redesigned in order to cover an even larger number of use cases.

New Actions (Procedure steps) in the Extract actions group - Two new Actions (Procedure steps) have been added in the "Extract" actions group in the Procedure designer: Bulk insert to SQL Table and Export Dataset.

Subscription Hub improvements- New authorization features for administrators and various options in the General Setting section have been added, such as the ability to define login options of associated Platforms, create your own password and locking policy, and customize the automatic emails sent to users during the registration or the enrollment process.

UPDATE (20/12/2021)
A  new 12.2 Patch is now available for download!
Below is a list of reported bugs that have been fixed in this patch:

  • Dataflow. A malfunction where a Dataflow didn’t write any value if the source Cube was a Date Cube and the target Cube was a Numeric Cube has been resolved
  • Dataflow. A malfunction where a Dataflow didn’t work as expected if the source and target Cube were the same and the expression contained more than 26 IF statements has been resolved
  • Dataflow. Calculations involving Cubes with Replicated Entities gave different results if those Cubes were Physical or Temporary. The issue has been resolved
  • Procedures. “Select entity based on Cube” steps weren’t applied correctly when the referenced Cube was empty and the active Data model included a security selection. The issue has been resolved
  • Select. Selections made with the EXCLUDE button weren’t applied correctly if non-highlighted members didn’t have children. The issue has been fixed
  • Rules. In some cases, rules on a Data Block in a Layout prevented values from being written in another Data Block having dimensions on the same relationship tree. The issue has been resolved

UPDATE (02/02/2022)
A new 12.2 Patch is now available for download: it includes various bug fixes and two new features.

Bug fixes

The following is a list of reported bugs that have been fixed in this patch.

  • Data entry. Data entry actions on BLOB Cubes performed using the Firefox browser are now working as expected
  • Dataflow. A malfunction where a Dataflow triggered by a data entry action on a Data View didn’t write the expected values in the adjacent column has been resolved
  • Dataflow. Dataflows involving Cubes with different dimensions and the "Previous year" time function are now working as expected
  • Dataflow. Dataflows using the Yearly Moving Total and Yearly Moving Average time functions with no cycle value set are now calculating values correctly when a time selection is applied
  • Dataflow. Dataflows configured with an algorithm using a conditional with nested parentheses are now writing values as expected
  • Dataflow. Two malfunctions regarding Dataflows between temporary Cubes containing replicated Entities have been resolved
  • Data model. A bug prevented access to the “CONTENT” page of Entities after clearing and reloading members via a Data reader when the “Sort by” property was set to Custom. The bug has been fixed
  • Data model backup. The Database backup feature in Board’s Cloud Administration portal is now writing the timestamp value as expected, using the configuration settings on the server_config_v2.xml file
  • Dynawrite. Links now open as expected (in a new tab) on Firefox and Edge browsers
  • Excel Add-in. An issue with copying and pasting Excel sheets that include Layouts has been resolved
  • Layout. An issue where the Layout wasn't replicating values as expected when a Cube had a less granular structure compared to the Entities set by Row has been resolved
  • Procedures. In some cases, after clearing and reloading data on a Cube where a Nexel formula had been configured, that formula stopped working. The issue has been resolved
  • Procedures. Images contained in BLOB Cubes reloaded after having been cleared are now displayed correctly
  • Procedures. A malfunction where different selections on Blocks belonging to different Layouts weren’t retained after the last selection was applied has been resolved
  • Procedures. CSV files exported via “Extract” steps now respect the CSV format, even if they contain values in quotation marks
  • Procedures. In some cases, breakpoints added to existing Procedures were not considered when running said Procedures. The issue has been resolved
  • Procedures. If a Select entity based on Cube step selected no members, subsequent similar steps selected no members as well, although they should have. The issue has been resolved
  • Procedures. An issue that prevented the Export Dataset step from correctly exporting algorithms has been fixed
  • Procedures. In a Screen, selections applied via a Procedure step or saved by developers are now always visible in the Select window, even if the end user viewing the Screen has a security selection applied and shouldn’t see all or some of the selected members. In this case, selections are not propagated to the rest of the hierarchy
  • Procedures. If a Select returns no results, the “If then else” step now returns 0 as the result instead of throwing an exception
  • Rules. A reverse rule set to an unbalanced hierarchy was not calculating the correct values recursively along the tree on a parent two levels higher. The issue has been resolved
  • Screen visualization. A display issue caused items of a Menu Object to appear incorrectly after hovering over them. The issue has been resolved
  • Select. Deleting a member of an Entity included in one or more selections prevented Layouts from being executed. The issue has been resolved
  • Select. A selection applied using the Exclude option now considers all expected members, even if they have no children

New features

New Audit log

A new Audit log is now available for Board environments using the Subscription Hub. The new log tracks the following events:

  • Creation of new User accounts
  • Changes applied to existing User accounts
  • Deletion of existing User accounts
  • Users login/logout activities

Each log line will always include the following information: timestamp, log type [AUDIT], action type, additional details specific for each action in JSON format.

The following action types are tracked:

Action type

Action message

Description

Log files are rolled at the end of each day or when they reach a file size of 1 Gb, whichever comes first. The rolling policy can be customized, if needed.
To request access to the Audit log files and for custom rolling policies, please open a support ticket through the Board Support Portal.
Please be sure to include your Platform name (e.g. customer1-s1.board.com) in support tickets. The Board Cloud Operations team will then handle your request.

Google reCAPTCHA v2 (Invisible)

Access to Board’s Subscription Hub is now protected by Google reCAPTCHA v2, also known as Invisible reCAPTCHA.

Google reCAPTCHA v2 is a security service that helps you detect abusive traffic on your website without any interaction required by the user. It works by tracking actions on your sign-in page and using the data collected to identify possible spam or bot activity.

All interactions on the page are given a score, with 1.0 being a likely legitimate interaction, and 0.0 probably a bot. These scores can then be used to block users who do not meet the score threshold.

This version contains a wide list of new features, fixes and enhancements.
