Objective: Improve the customization of label objects in Board by implementing several key changes.

Requested Enhancements:

  • Expanded Shape Catalog: Increase the selection of predefined shapes.
  • Support for Custom SVG Shapes: Allow developers to upload custom SVG shapes, with the ability to customize multiple colors within the SVG.
  • Independent Configuration Options:
    • Label Alignment: Currently, text can only be aligned; allow alignment for both text and shape.
    • Label Colors: Enable changes to both the shape's color and the background color of the label.

While Board provides a selection of native shapes, these may not meet the diverse needs of users across different sectors. Many industries have unique requirements for icons that better represent their processes, services, or products. By allowing developers to add custom shapes alongside native options, we can offer a more flexible solution that caters to the specific branding and visual identity of each organization.

With the capability to upload and incorporate custom SVG shapes, developers can enhance their label objects, making them more relevant and engaging. This empowers organizations to create displays that reflect their specific context, improving communication and usability. For example, a healthcare provider might prefer shapes representing medical services, while a finance company could opt for icons related to financial metrics.

Additionally, SVG support ensures that custom shapes remain sharp and scalable across devices and resolutions, maintaining a professional appearance in all scenarios.

Implementing these custom shapes in label objects would significantly enhance customization capabilities within Board, enabling developers to create more meaningful and effective visual representations of their data and processes.
